I think the best AI disappears.
Most AI products still arrive as a visible attachment. A chat panel on the right. A sparkle on a button. An "Ask AI" tab nobody opens twice.
The interesting version is quieter. The AI sits underneath the work: sorting, drafting, checking, flagging, remembering, and mostly staying out of the way. The person keeps their attention on the thing they came to do.
That is harder to design, because you cannot solve it with a component. You have to understand the work well enough to know where judgment belongs.

Give me your product. I’ll tell you. No email wall, no gated PDF, no “book a call to see your results.”

The task stays in the foreground
The interface belongs to what the person came to do. If AI needs its own room, it usually means we could not figure out where it belonged.
Show the work, not the wizardry
People do not need to be told a model was involved. They need to see what it used, what it assumed, and where it is unsure.
Confidence has to be legible
A quiet system still has to say when it is guessing. Invisible does not mean unaccountable.
Escalation is a design surface
The handoff to a human is the most important screen in most AI products, and usually the least designed one.
Measure the workflow, not the answer
Good output on a bad workflow is still a bad product. Time to trust, rework rate, escalation health.
